Alice Springs (Wednesday)

Well I started strong today... I was up about 8, which was pretty early considering the week I've had.
Leon is one of the organisers for the Mayoral Awards. The awards recognise the achievements of those in the Alice Springs community with a disability, and also those who advocate for the rights of those with a disability. As I do some public speaking, Leon asked me a few weeks ago if I would be the guest speaker, which I was very happy and honoured to do. I had a call this morning from 8HA, one of the local radio stations here, wanting an interview in the lead up. I think it all went relatively smoothly, though I didn't hear it. Not that I would have listened. I hate listening to myself, or seeing myself on tv. Maybe everyone thinks they sound ridiculous on film/tape, I don't know.
After my interview, I had just enough time for a quick shower before my doctors appointment. It was so good to have a shower after three days in the desert, and to wash my hair, which had started to turn into a birds nest.
The doctor I saw was nice enough, but she wasn't particularly helpful. I already knew my boob was starting to hyper granulate. She just told me that when I got home it might need to be debrided by a surgeon. Actually it just needs some silver nitrate, but she didn't want to do that. I know this, because despite the fact I've not been to medical school, I have been living with these burns for months, and I have occurred and treated these problems previously! But anyway, she did give me a script for antibiotics if I need them in the next few weeks. Enough ranting...
after the doctors, I went into the shops to get some things I needed, mainly lunch and a new (preferably very big) bottle of moisturiser after my week in the desert without any. I got about half way through the supermarket before I started feeling really tired. I manage to get what I needed and get home, but by the time I get to the bedroom I could hardly keep my eyes open.. I woke up three hours later when Sandra got home!
I got back up to help Sandra with tea. Leon went to the dentist this afternoon. His tooth ache he's had all week needs a root canal-no wonder he was complaining!
While tea was cooking I called home. I haven't really had a chance to catch up with Mum and Dad since they got home from Canada, so mum and I had a really good talk. She had to get some things done, so I had a talk to Dad for a while, then Keygan. His school football team won the grand final last week which was really exciting. Even more exciting for the fact he survived unharmed. Last year Mum, Dad and I went to watch his grand final, only for him to get knocked out in the first quarter and end up in the emergency room!
While looking at my blog site, I was having a look through my stats. It turns out I have readers in Russia! I have no idea how, but that was a really cool thing way to end the day! Hi Russia!
That's me for today!
